where are we going
by Roberto Lavidez

what have we learned
where are we going
the ordinary man
hesitated between
dismissing and tolerating
a sort of fog
of unsolved
desire and sadness
clever at knowing
conventional histories
of men and ideas
but not at living
under prevailing
conditions
recognizing his
own insignificance
throwing stones
aimlessly into the sea
incapable of seeing
the little drop
and the ocean are
the same thing
the very simplicity
of the scheme
the mysterious
angular forms
in shadow
losing faith
in the growth
of potentialities
turns his intinct
backward against
man himself
the blockage of
freedom
a horrid little
refusal to have
nasty thoughts
beyond the surface
of happiness and
goodness
waking up to
something slightly
unbalanced about
the whole composition
losing some form
of control that renders
it useful to civilization
the contradictions
between idealized
images demonstrated
in absolute darkness
