short of
a long story
by Roberto Lavidez

it will not
be difficult
to imagine
the consequences
a long story
of infamies
have spread
a black curse
across
the earth
beset
by the
tumultuous
urges
of the
unconscious
a deep
intolerance
of any
unorthodoxy
the breaking
of faith
sworn
in hymns
and
constitutions
anarchy
spawns
a contagious
disease
of terror
horror
widely
expressed at
transgressions
reminder of
unspeakable
crimes and
desperate
human
suffering
dragging
itself
through
a long
useless
existence
acquiescing out
of indifference
with an almost
maniacal
desire
feeding
solely
upon itself
the task
lies in
the hands
of the
dispossessed
the humiliated
the accursed
to peel back
the layers
of unjustifiable
repression
it is not
a hopeless
world
but
something
must be
done

walk on a rope
by Roberto Lavidez

is there
a lack
of clear
sightedness
a failure
of will
it seems
that noone
sees more
clearly
everything
slips
down
into the
undeterminability
of consciousness
embarking
on a hopeless
enterprise
like
fighting
against
the gods
everything
is inflamed
everything
is seized
upon
erasing
memory
as presence
of the past
in the
present
a time
overtaken
as the
world
was
becoming
more
connected
it had
become
more
dangerous
people
have been
crushed
cheated
tortured
and killed
in terrible
numbers
for gain
for despotic
power
the conscience
of men
deliberately
ensnared
hard
pressed
for an
answer
to any
earnest
enquirer
of antiquity
wormeaten
and deep
in dust
for no kind
of mortal
man
has been
spared
in atrocities
that
do not
lead to an
understanding
of what
causes
them
we can
teach
elephants
to walk
on a rope
is there
anything
we could
not teach
a human
being

swirling universe
by Roberto Lavidez

swirling
universe of
discharging
energy
penetrates
inquiries
into the
realm
of reason
distorted
by the
perceptual
machinery
of the
human
mind
the mysterious
power
dissipating
the great
mountains
of obscurations
holds
the mind
remote
from
the trivialities
the temptations
the frictions
of the world
this abyssal
depth
exceeds
the grasp
of human
thought
and language
contrasted
with the
illusions  of
the dream
the superficial
thought
of the day
the agonized
exhausted
state of
consciousness
dried up
by the
suns
battered
by wind
and rain
shuts
man
off
in a
little
camera
obscura
of his own
seeing
beyond
the actual
into the
eternal
realm
of the
imagination
imposing
ideas
on the
recalcitrant
meaninglessness
of the
material
world
to bring
forth
truth
into the
splendor
of radiant
appearance
to turn
probabilities
into
certainties
reaping
now
of what
we have
ourselves
sown
in the
unsurveyable
flesh
of history

deciphering
enigmas
by Roberto Lavidez

dreams
open into
a whole
new region
of fantasy
looking
below
the surface
and reading
between
the lines
relentlessly
demanding
a confrontation
with the
shadow side
of existence
a definite
encounter
with human
mortality
finitude
and fallibility
intrusions
from other
worlds
whose
entirety
remains
unknown
and whose
logic
escapes us
had begun
a slow but
irreversible
decline
stirred by
the fleeting
euphoria
of the newly
liberated
after having
been raped
by nihilism
beyond
the constraints
of fate
and death
deciphering
enigmas
the most
complex
of metaphors
distinguishing
the known
from the
uncertain
brought
down
from the
heights
of poetry
to the valley
of prose
inscribing
itself
at every
moment
in the sky
everything
from the
transcendental
to the
utterly
trivial
trembling
in the
presence
of the
first cloud
that
would be
a clear
prediction
of a
hurricane
following
a path
from peace
to anarchy
from wealth
to poverty
desperate
for a shelter
a balm
that could
calm
the soul
reconcile
minds
and resolve
contradictions
sans the
carnivalesque
promises of
the timeless
over the temporal
the infinite
over the finite
from spontaneous
lies and cold
heartlessness
of tragedians

Kafka ending
Beckett’s game
by Roberto Lavidez

this naive world
was the most
complicated one
that ever existed
a world where
all would be
silent and still
a speck
in the void
in the dark
for ever
every human being
must be able
to justify his life
but man could not
do enough for his
own satisfaction
evil knows
of the good
but good does
not know evil
ah the creatures
the creatures
everything has
to be explained
to them
peering
timid
hopeful
the answer prowls
round the question
old endgame
lost of old
play and lose
and have done
with losing
thus the
continuity
of transience
cannot give
any consolation
heaven is dumb
echoing only
to the dumb
to think perhaps
it won’t all
have been
for nothing
the whole thing
is comical
I grant you that
with the rest
in the end
the shadows
the murmurs
all the trouble
to end up with
confusing a shot
from a gun
with a
roll of thunder
imagining manna
in heaven
for imbeciles
why this farce
day after day
all the resurrected
dead of all ages
wouldn't  fill it
from a vague
abundance of
old stories
the disproportion
of things seems
to be only
arithmetical
you cried
for night
it comes
it falls
now cry
in darkness
there is
nothing
to say
nothing
other than
a motivation
of man’s wish
to rest
for a moment
perhaps
it’s compassion
a kind of
great compassion
you explain life
as a state of rest
a state of rest
in motion
it’s because
there are no more
navigators
the relationship
to oneself
is the relationship
of striving

driven
By Roberto Lavidez

the sun
blocked out
by smoke
the streets
littered
with debris
the dream
of utopia
ends in
squalid horror
where lives
are turned
upside down
the will
to confront
and change
these realities
failing
to consider
evil
in the world
and corrupt
human nature
attempting
to be born
in new reality
staking everything
on a formidable
gamble
speaking out
for understanding
and compassion
tracing out
the feeble hope
that suffuses it
no matter how
people might
damage the truth
a position
contrary to reason
flying in the face
of ancient history
encumbered
by messiahnism
unafraid of the
consequences
of pursuing
a vision
from quite
different
intellectual
perspective
always believing
that words
are more
powerful
than munitions
shattering the
deceiving mirror
of fact
a stubborn
philosopher
with rebellious
intention and
desperate effort
to give body to
man’s most
clairvoyant
dreams
driven by a
powerful force
that protects
the eyes from
the blinding
flash of the
obvious
