there goes Juan
Ramon Jimenez
by Roberto Lavidez
remembering
goes along
my memory
pushing aside
with subtle
feet
the withered
leaves
there goes
the song
of the brook
green
meadows
and lovely
nights
lovely for
weeping
and flight
my soul
is kin to
the gray sky
where from
the reflections
in the stream
my daydreams
overturned
it has wept
for love
because of
an old
love song
it heard
perhaps the
crowd does
not care for
so much
passionate
bent
eternal
daybreak of
cold and
of distress
depressing
emergence
from the
cavern
of sleep
I go to the
garden woman
wait for me
wait!
one by one
the dry leaves
are falling
from my
withered
heart
yellowed
and sorrowful
it is the
gold of
yearning
of mourning
and memories
when woman
is present
all things
are serene
themselves
the flame
the flower
and song
let my heart
be like you
sunset
uncover
in me
what is
eternal
is the body
hungrier
or the soul
and for what?
my illusions
now are gray
and what
I hope for
is alas
my past
good-bye
you who are
walking away
without once
looking back
do no
thinking
laugh at
the weeping
song
the dog
barked
playfully
almost
talking to
the stars
new gold
of the dawn
old gold
of the sunset
the new petal
in the rose
and what else
the new rose
within
my heart
and what else
solitude
and calm
majesty and
silence
only
I live
within
the bosom
of the spring
I walked
into the
shrub
oh how
it smelled
how it
smelled
of life!
and there
will remain
only the
world of
names
words of
the love
of men
of the
fragrance
of roses
the valley
shivers
the path
disappears
and all
in the soft
clarity of the
new moon
everything
seems
interchanged
and then
when the
noonday
comes
there will be
peace
